The Music Within

I know I'm a writer with so many things to say.
I've  come to realize the beauty in things unsaid.
To feel them deep within instead.
So many useless words being said
Listen
Breathe in the melodies
Now the words you speak will be the greatest symphonies ever heard
The music within expressing so much more without a single word.

HIS Voice In The Rain

Silence to roar
Filling me with pulsating sound
Darkness to light
Jagged patterns electric night sky.
Calling out to me without saying my name
Drenched in the cleansing downpour
With a promise of  starting anew
Wrapped in the wind of your comforting embrace
Soothing my fears of what lies ahead
Your tears of joy soak my skin as I begin to understand
The path to walk, I will not be alone
Vision is given
Not seen by these eyes
Yet completely clear with a faithful heart

Are You?

Are you creatively called?

Are you committed to your calling to create?

We are all busy people. In some way every person has a artistic side. It may not be art, music or writing, but I believe we have a longing inside of us. Some people experiment with food or some with fabrics. Are they not being creative? Some tinker with machines to make them better. Others may build with wood, bricks, or metals. Some even play games or memorize scripture. Creative people search and experiment to find new and better ways of expressing or working.

I have heard so many people claim a lack of creativity when I clearly see that they think with originality. They garden, teach, administrate, serve, and love others with a unique flavor of their own. They are the silent artists.

Do you wonder if you have a gift of creativity? If so, you are in good company. I have observed that even those who are highly gifted still question. If you ask me I would tell you with a resounding, "Yes!" that you are creative! I would look for your trials and errors as well as your successes. I would find your passion and in that tender place in your heart I would see an imaginative or innovative force longing to be set free.

Our Creatively Called group has grown because people have come saying, "I am not creative, but...." Are you one of those? Are you one of our future members?

Let's see what we can do together! Join our creative experiment!

I'm Not A Morning Person

I’m not a morning person.
That bird perched on the rooftop determined to wake me before my alarm goes off
Closing my eyes tighter, snuggling deeper under covers, my alarm starts to ring
I’m not a morning person.
My fluffy little puppy so happily greets me, I smile, and then I remember
I’m not a morning person.
I begrudgingly rise and start towards the shower to begin my morning routine
Moments later with much needed coffee in hand, taking in a sip stepping out on the patio, soaking in the daylight
Face towards the heavens, a slight smile starts , and then I remember
I’m not a morning person.
Dressed and ready for work, heading out the door, breathing deeply and a smile on my face, I almost forget
I’m not a morning person.
Slowly accepting, appreciating the peace of God the early morning brings
Could it be, He is showing me how lovely it could be
If only I was morning person.

Psalms 118:24

New International Version (NIV)
24 The Lord has done it this very day;
let us rejoice today and be glad.

Carolynn J. Scully

Carolynn J. Scully
Creative Communicator

ARTISTS STATEMENT:
Writing poetry affords me
an opportunity to share
a veiled intimacy with my reader.
My poetry is a celebration of
relationship with God, family,
and friends. I see words as a
beautiful palate of color with which
I paint a picture, and that picture
can come to life in the soul!

I’ve written “silently” since high school. It was only when I began attending a writers’ group(Creatively Called), approximately 16 years ago, that I took the step to share my writing with others.

Many writers from a broad spectrum, from Dr. Seuss to Maya Angelou, influence me. The Holy Scriptures and great Christian thinkers such as C.S. Lewis and Erwin McManus also contribute to my poetical and thoughtful journey.

My work has been published in compilation books, children’s calendar and as part of craft projects and framed art. I have created greeting cards that offer heartfelt and unique messages for almost any occasion. I continue to look for new and creative ways to share the gift of poetry.

I have been recognized as an award winning poet in two nationwide contests.

I am also an inspirational speaker with a passion to help strengthen, support, encourage and celebrate family relationships. My poetry and inspirational writings are interspersed throughout an offering of personal stories and practical insight in my talks to Women's Groups.

As an interpreter of song I present an animated and visual celebration of worship. I use a combination of sign and movement to interpret the meaning of the song to the audience.

I have been married to Patrick for 39 years. We have four married children and five grandchildren. I am a member of Journey Christian Church.

Education and Involvement:
B.S. in Child Development and Family Relationships from Colorado State 1974
Member of The National League of American Pen Women, Inc. since 2008
Presently the Chaplin of the NLAPW of Florida.
Potter's Wheel, now known as Creatively Called, member since 1996
C.L.A.S.S. and C.L.A.S.S. Reunion graduate
Bible Study Teacher at Journey Christian Church

In The Beginning

New beginnings can happen at any time. We only need to make a choice to go in a new direction. Creatively Called is making that choice.

Creatively Called is a group of women artists, crafters, writers, poets, musicians, etc. We have chosen to work together to encourage and support each other and those who are gifted and have a dedicated desire to be excellent in what they set their hand to do. This blog is a place to connect, learn, share and grow.

If you find yourself reading this and wanting to be a part of our movement please comment and let us know about you and your gift. Our ladies will soon be sharing about themselves too.

Let's get started!
